Microsoft Tag App Dominates Mobile Scanning Arena

Since 2010, billions of printed magazines have had scanable tags implemented in them. At August of last year alone, almost 600,000 tags were scanned.

It’s a Tag-eat-QR jungle out there, and the Microsoft Tag mobile App (iTunes download) is the unquestionable Lion.

We all know that Barcodes scanning has been around since the beginning of smartphones, but very few people are aware of just how critical it is for them to deliver unique data in real-time, when their potential costumers are seeking knowledge on the go.

Microsoft has managed to change Offline marketing in the same way that Google has changed the Online marketing.

The color enhanced Tags could easily convert users in a much better rate than colorless barcodes and QR’s, and much like with a well planned Google Ad-Words campaign, scanning Tags as part of your marketing strategy could pour some serios light on your efforts: which ad got people to scanning that Tag? Did they convert by leaving an email or a phone number?

Heck, you could even tell their location and device used when scanning your Tag.

Operating Tag is very easy; you can create your new Tag for free using Microsoft’s Tag Manager, while choosing one of five layouts.

The Free Text method will pop a text message when the Tag is scanned, with up to 1,000 words.

Dialer will enable the client to call you with the scan of a Tag, no need to struggle with the touch screen.

The vCard option will let you present your online business card to your customers.

Choosing the URL delivery method will lead the user to a landing page of your choice. (did we say Google Ad-Words?)

Finally, and as we see it – most effectively, the App Download option could automatically download your App into the client’s mobile device, with his permission of course.

Microsoft has sure taken the mobile scanning industry by storm with its Tag App, which is available for both iOS, Win and Android.
