StumbleUpon’s iPhone App Surely Delivers
Hey there, App Champs!
Until not long ago, I was old fashioned in the way I refused to introduce myself to the Content discovery networks that have gathered millions of curious fans.
Lucky for me, those Social Bookmarking websites have long ago found their way to our pockets with cozy mobile Apps, and so did StumbleUpon.
Like the StumbleUpon website, the new iPhone App compiles web pages according to your unique tastes.
It then personalizes future selections according to what you have liked or disliked in the past, making your web-browsing experience tailored to your interests.
The App shows users more sites of what they like and less of what they don’t based on the sites users like using the thumbs-up or down button.
StumbleUpon iOS App features a well-designed interface. From the home screen, you can conveniently begin “Stumbling,” access your previously viewed StumbleUpon pages or browse through trending sites.
Users can move through various sites with an easy tap of the button on the bottom or by swiping the screen.
A left swipe brings the user back to a previous webpage, while a right sweep transfers them to a new site.
The app displays a quick look at each Stumble page with a thumbnail of the slide so you can check out a sample of the page before deciding to go to it or click through to the next page.
Another perk is that you can easily share your likes with others via Facebook, Twitter, and more.
Never Stumbled before? First-time users can register using the app via Facebook, Google, or email, and can begin stumbling right away.
If you are a first-time user, you will be prompted to pick from a variety of topics that interest you, ranging from relationships and health to wine and travel. Previously registered users can use their StumbleUpon website log-in information.
The Good: StumbleUpon iPhone App is perfect for when you need to pass time while waiting on the bus, at a doctor’s office, or between classes. Rather than wasting time searching for webpages that interests you, you can easily access and scroll through relevant content.
The Bad: The ads that show up on sponsored pages can be a bit of a bother, but you can easily click out of them to continue on with your ad-free Stumbling experience.
The Cash: StumbleUpon iOS App is free on the iTunes store.
